Meet the Maker behind Studio Onethirty
MEET SARAH..
Sydney based artist, mother, textile and interior designer who breathed into life Studio Onethirty, the iconic and refreshing brand for bright and colourful painterly botanical fabrics and art.
Studio Onethirty offers a stunning range of bespoke fabric for soft furnishings, upholstery, alfresco settings, and artworks. All inspired by the colours and textures found in Australian nature, and largely drawn from Sarah’s original paintings.
“My art is quite free and emotive and so it creates a sense of ease and calm.”
Before Sarah was an artist and textile designer, she was an interior designer and architectural consultant for 10 years. During a design project, Sarah was on the hunt for Australian native botanical textiles. She came across plenty of classic and formal florals however nothing really resonated with the native flora in her local environment.
It was after the birth of her daughter in 2015 where her spark for art, sketching and painting was reignited during downtime with her newborn and thus, Studio Onethirty was born and named after the address of her home studio. A few months later, Sarah took a leap of faith and registered her art for the Finders Keepers Market and she hasn’t looked back since.
Sarah is passionate about Australian made products and began the journey to find a local print studio who understood her aesthetic and the direction of the collection.
“Keeping my range Australian made is very important and is the ethos behind my brand. When I see a local maker being celebrated it’s like a win for all of us.”
Studio Onethirty celebrates the journey and organic progression of each artwork, even the mistakes that can often lead to something unexpectedly brilliant. Sarah intentionally places no restrictions on the creating stage and allows the art to just be. This is what makes Studio Onethirty pieces feel pure and authentic rather than following trends, as they come from a place of free expression and unrestricted creativity.
“Art should have no boundaries; it’s all about having fun and making a space feel that little bit brighter. I love that my work makes people happy, it’s the essence of why I create.”
Sarah’s authentic and refreshing passion for creating continues to shine through every one of her pieces. Click here to be inspired by Sarah’s emotive designs inspired by Australia’s natural beauty.
